VACATION
- All residents are entitled to three weeks vacation per 12 months
period
- Time away from the residency program for educational purposes, such
as workshops or continuing medical education activities, up to 5 days
annually, is not counted in the general limitation on absences.

BENEFITS
- medical and dental insurance - medical care is free if provided in
the UVA health system

- funding for journals and travel to meetings or off-site
electives
- six weeks of paid maternity leave plus departmentally approved
vacation time
- housestaff benefit money, which may be used to pay for parking,
University gym membership, or meals
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support
(PALS) certifications
- professional liability insurance, uniforms, laundering of uniforms,
meal money for overnight calls, and gym and lounge facilities
- the University's athletic and recreational facilities may be used
by housestaff for a nominal fee.
