Kathleen Pridgen, MD
I am originally from Kingsport, TN and went to the University of Tennessee for my undergraduate degree (Biochemistry) and also met my husband Brad there. We then moved to Charlottesville for my medical school training at UVA, and for Brad to work in research. I always knew I wanted to practice primary care, and this interest was nurtured in the Generalist Scholars Program at UVA. My Family Medicine clerkship, as well as multiple shadowing opportunities and clinical skills workshops offered by the department here confirmed my decision to train in Family Medicine. The field offers limitless variety, continuity and learning opportunities.
In 2011 my husband and I welcomed our first child, Dorothy, who is now a rambunctious toddler! In 2012 I graduated from medical school and was so happy to stay for residency training at UVA Family Medicine. UVA has so much to offer, including a very strong focus on Evidence Based Medicine and Information Mastery. I love the broad scope of Family Medicine, and being from Northeast Tennessee have an interest in rural community medicine. During second and third year of residency, I am excited to be joining the team at one of our community clinics, Crossroads Family Practice. Feel free to email me if you are interested in our program!
