Justin Bennett, M.D.
I grew up in Calhoun, GA which is small town about 60 miles north of Atlanta. I have a wife, Sheena and an almost 1 year old daughter, Addie. I went to Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, GA where I majored in Biology. I went to medical school at the Medical College of Georgia (Georgia Health Sciences University or what will now be Georgia Regents University) in Augusta GA (home of the Masters). After living in Augusta for 4 years my wife and I were ready to go back to the mountains for my residency. I thought that I wanted a community program but on a whim decided to interview here at UVA. I was so impressed by the great mix of learning and work experience that I just couldn't find in smaller community hospitals. Nowhere else had the opportunity to have great Family Medicine faculty and world class specialists with patients that run from international refugees to underserved rural poor to grad students. I am very grateful to be a part of such a wonderful department that is well respected throughout a prestigious academic institution.
We have loved Charlottesville from the moment we got here. We enjoy the downtown mall, the great restaurants, whole foods and the great parks around town. We love the proximity to the mountains and can be on the AT in 45 mins which is usually where you will find us on sunny weekends that I have off. I can’t wait to continue to explore the area I the years to come.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have as you look at our program. We look forward to seeing you during interview season.
