Cecily Montgomery, M.D.
Hi All! Thank you for your interest in our program!
I am a DC native and went to Howard University for my undergraduate and medical degree. Ready to spread my wings and leave my beloved DC, I applied to a generous amount of family medicine residency programs. I was initally driven to UVA's program due to its location, only a 2hr drive from my home and family. As I learned more about UVA's program, I became extremely attracted to the Information Mastery program, as I plan to principally use evidence-based medicine in my future practice, the progress of UVA towards the patient centered medical home, and our department chair's vivid interest in health disparities. At the interview, I had an immediate sense of love for the program, the people and it's vision, and the town of cville. My fiancee and I are looking forward to beginning our family together in Charlottesville and are expecting a baby girl. In my spare time, I enjoy discovering new restaurants to try in Cville (I love to EAT! and lucky for me a bunch of our residents are also great cooks especially Dustin and Madhuri!), going to the movies (there is a dollar theater here and a huge Regal), traveling, sports, playing games and with my energetic Shih-tzu, spending time with family and friends, and shopping (Nice boutiques here in Charlottesville and Richmond is only 40 min away).
The question I asked all residents I encountered on the interview trail is "Did/Do you feel supported as an intern?". I can say with over 100% confidence that the faculty, upper year residents, and outside specialties who we rotate with have provided more than what I anticpated as far as support, education, and guidance throughout this challenging year. Please feel free to email me with any questions you have about the program and best wishes!
