Dustin Markle, MD
Hello and welcome to the UVA Department of Family Medicine! I am from Mississippi where I attended both undergrad and medical school at the University of Mississippi - home of William Faulkner, Eli Manning, and Michael Oher, (see The Blind Side). I am ecstatic to be here in beautiful Charlottesville, VA! When I was researching Family Medicine programs, my main concern was to find a quality, forward-thinking training program in a wonderful place to live. Charlottesville was ultimately where everything clicked for me.
As you learn more about our program, you are sure to discover that we have faculty who are dedicated to both patient care and resident education. We have residents who are passionate about family medicine and comprehensive care of patients. We have a staff that is supportive, and we have a curriculum that is innovative. Be sure to read about our Essentials of Family Medicine curriculum, which I'm sure you'll find to be something that makes us stand out in the crowd.
Charlottesville is such a great place to live! My wife and I love to spend our free weekend afternoons watching polo and tasting local wines at Albemarle County's many vineyards. There are concerts downtown almost every night! The views of the Blue Ridge are breathtaking. Foodies will find plenty of great restaurants in the downtown area. And having UVA in town makes this a dynamic, vibrant cultural hub for Virginia.
Please feel free to email me with any questions you may have as you look at our program. We look forward to seeing you during interview season!
