Kirsten Hansen, M.D.
I spent 4 years of my childhood in the Charlottesville area, and have never been able to forget it. I chose another school for undergrad and then found my way to an incredible medical school at The Ohio State University (Go Bucks!).. but I couldn't stay away much longer than that.
Well, actually, I interviewed at UVA for residency as my first interview because I wanted a trip back to the area, and I thought it would be a good practice interview to start off my season. After dinner with the residents the night before my interview, I knew it would be an incredible fit for me. I went through my interview and was completely impressed at the rural and urban aspects of the program with evidence-based medicine emphasis and solid international as well as behavioral health components. I didn't find any other programs that met all my criteria as I finished my interviewing.. so here I am.
I love family medicine, but seriously considered IM and IM/Peds during my third year.. so if you have any questions about that, feel free to send them my way! I can try to be un-biased. ;) I have an awesome intern class, and pretty sweet (that's Ohio for cool) upper levels too. If you're looking for residency programs - good luck in your search! I hope you find your dream program. Let me know if you have any questions about ours!
Outside of residency, I have a cool cat that pees on the toilet (when he feels like it.. still working on the consistency thing). I love the hiking opportunities in the area, and take advantage of the scenic views all around. I'm almost always up for a movie, run, bike ride, or hiking trip with friends in the area... but I avoid large social gatherings except on rare occasion, because I find them draining. And I probably enjoy long walks on the beach. What else should I have said? Any questions.. ask!
