I grew up in an Air Force family originally from Louisiana. I have
spent most of my adult life traveling, living in Argentina, Cameroon,
Israel, and Kenya. I have learned Spanish and Hebrew along the way, and
wish I spoke more languages. I am interested in Public Health and
International Health and was attracted to UVa for their International Family Medicine
Clinic. It serves refugees from all over the world and is
a great opportunity to work in a cross-cultural family medicine
setting. I have been married to my soul-mate, Shelley, for over six
years. A son, Micah, was born to us in December of my Intern year.
Residency has been a lot of hard work, but I've found an enormous
amount of support from all hospital departments, especially Family
Medicine. An environment of camaraderie and encouragement is fostered
here that has exceeded my expectations. After residency I will serve in
the Air Force as a Family Physician. After that, I don't know where
I'll be, but it'd better require a plane flight to get there... |
