When I interviewed here at UVA, I spent much of the day and the entire evening laughing. Laughing. That was a taste of the joy I would feel being a part of the group of people that make up the family medicine department. These are fine physicians and incredibly quality people. An example: during my second day as an intern in the MICU, I was left alone with the service on my upper year resident's day off. I was, I must admit, feeling a bit overwhelmed when I ran into one of the second year residents on his day off. He actually offered to come up to the MICU with me and help! I was flabbergasted. But that's just one example of the kind of support we have within our department here-- by residents and faculty alike. Not only are the people amazing, but as a department we enjoy the privilege of receiving our training from some of the most respected internal medicine, surgical and pediatric departments in the country. Finally, Charlottesville is fantastic! Its natural beauty is astounding, it's full of culture, activities and fabulous restaurants, and best of all, it's close to the mountains, the beach, and the city! What could be better? By the way-- my hobbies: hiking with my husband and my crazy dog, gardening, eating, and fixing up our house.
