I graduated from the med school at UVA. I knew most of the faculty, and thought after interviewing elsewhere that they were exceptional in many respects.  (Great role models, clinicians, teachers, and supportive and fun).  I also very much enjoyed the patient population at UVA, and in particular working with rural populations.

Charlottesville really grew on us, too, during the time I was in med school.  Our priorities changed when we started having children, and Central Virginia is a great place to have a family.  We had thought we would return to the Western United States, but opted to stay here instead for all of the above reasons.
