M.D. Degree: Loyola
Residency: Family Medicine, University of Virginia
I was drawn to family medicine for the opportunity to be involved in some of the most profound events over the course of people's lives - birth, illness, death - and for the opportunity to get to know people during all those days in between. I first came to UVA as a resident in 2003, completed a faculty development fellowship here, and now am very happy to be staying on as faculty. I can honestly say that I love my job. My clinical time is spent at Stoney Creek Family Practice, one of our satellite clinics in a rural area about 40 minutes outside of Charlottesville. I enjoy seeing patients of all ages there, including a growing population of obstetric and pediatric patients. I also enjoy performing office procedures and teaching residents and medical students in clinic and on labor and delivery.
Having been part of our department as a resident, fellow, and now faculty member, I can tell you that the people in our department are incredibly supportive of each other, wonderful teachers (including the residents), and are the kind of people you want to be around and get to know better. I met my husband Tim when we were both residents here. We enjoy travel, the many outdoors activities in our area, the lively music scene and great restaurants around Charlottesville, and most of all spending time with family and friends. If you have come across this site looking at family medicine programs, I encourage your interest in family medicine, and also encourage you to look closely at our program here. Feel free to contact me with any questions you have.
