I joined the faculty in 1990 to organize and open our computerized rural satellite at Stoney Creek. I am a lifelong native Virginian who graduated from the University of Virginia and completed my residency program here as well.
I maintain an active rural teaching practice with an emphasis on giving residents and medical students the opportunity to experience the rewards of patient/family oriented medicine as it is practiced away from the "Ivory Tower." I also have clinical teaching responsibilities in the Family Practice Center at the University and the inpatient service as well as continuing to supervise the day-to-day operations at Stoney Creek.
The residents enjoy practicing with Dr. Cole and me at Stoney Creek. This adds a much needed diversion from the medical center rotations. We try to maintain a "balancing act" to provide a more realistic view of one's future practice.
I enjoy the country life with my wife Jenny and our three children. We enjoy many outdoor activities.
