Office Hours and Appointment Scheduling
We will be using an open access appointment scheduling system. We will make a limited number of advance appointments in order to provide prompt service for acute conditions. Whether it is an appointment for a physical, well child check, follow up of a chronic medical condition, or acute illness, we will make every attempt to see you the day that you call or the next day depending on the urgency of the condition.
Medication Refills
Medication refills can be requested between 9:30 am and 4:00 pm each week day. Please have the medication name, strength, supply needed (30 day or 90 day), pharmacy and patient name readily available. Requests made after 4:00 pm may not be filled until the following business day. Please make your refill requests early in the day to avoid delay. Please allow two business days for us to call in new prescriptions. Please call your refill requests in as early as possible to avoid delays.
Fees and Insurance
Western Albemarle Family Medicine operates on a fee for service basis. To minimize paperwork and to help keep our charges as low as possible, we ask that you pay all eligible co-payments and non covered charges at the time of your appointment.
We participate with most insurance companies. If our services are covered by your health insurance, we will complete the necessary reports of your medical care or services and file them with your insurance company.
Emergencies
If you or a family member becomes ill as a result of a stroke, heart attack, or other potentially life threatening condition, call 911 or your local rescue squad.
If the urgency is not life threatening, please call the office of Western Albemarle Family Medicine during office hours instead of going to the ER. You may be able to avoid unnecessary and costly visits to the Emergency Room by calling our office first.
