Inpatient Rehabilitation Management at UVA/HealthSouth
Career Opportunities in Family Medicine at the University of Virginia School of Medicine
The Department of Family Medicine at the University of Virginia
seeks candidates for a tenure-ineligible Assistant/Associate Professor
position. The incumbent will work in a collaborative team, managing
existing chronic medical conditions for patients admitted for
rehabilitation to Health South Rehabilitation Center, while
physiatrists and allied staff manage the patients' rehabilitation.
Health South's average census is 40 patients per day. The mark of
success for this collaborative effort will be improved quality of care
at the Rehabilitation Center and a reduction in patient transfers to
the acute-care hospital. Rank is dependent upon experience.
Administrative responsibilities include participating in the UVa Health System's committee structure, which encompasses the Department of Family Medicine, the School of Medicine and the Medical Center, and assisting in other areas as requested by the Department Chair. The incumbent is expected to develop lectures or workshops for presentation to the faculty, residents, fellows, and medical students.
Candidates must have an MD or DO and be board-certified or board-eligible by the American Board of Family Medicine by the start date. Preference will be given to candidates that have inpatient experience; experience with team-based care models, electronic medical records (EMR), and quality improvement methodology.
