Medical Scribes
Interview applicants from all over the world have raved about our medical scribes! Hired as hourly employees, scribes assist the Emergency Department physicians by documenting the entire medical record. The responsibilities of Scribes include, but are not limited to, documenting the history of present illness, review of systems, physical exam, assessments and procedure notes. In addition, scribes track laboratory and radiology results as well as past medical records.
These responsibilities are part of a coordinated
effort between the scribe and the resident physician to ensure complete
and appropriate documentation. Scribes are present for every patient
interview and transcribe the HPI and other elements of the essential
documentation as they take place. Scribes are extensively trained both
in the classroom and in the Emergency Department to be an integral part
of the medical team. With efficient communication between the scribe
and the resident physician, a scribe allows the physician to focus more
on patient care and analysis of diagnostic results. Effectively, this
increases the patient flow and overall experience for both the patient
and the physician.
