The UVA Emergency Department (ED) is well-integrated with our city and county EMS Systems. Our local EMS provider, CARS (Charlottesville-Albemarle Rescue Squad), composed of career staff and volunteers, is a leading agency on innovative patient care as well as paramedic education. Many members also work as patient care technicians in the ED, enhancing our team relationship.

Pegasus is UVA's critical care transport team. Both flight and ground patient transportation is available for on-scene incidents as well as hospital transfer of the critically-ill.
