Research and Employment Opportunities

Employment / Fellowship

If you hold a Ph.D., M.D., or both, are interested in a career related to development of technology, and would like to spend a year or more in a full time academic, pre-faculty position, please contact us at anesthesia-technology@virginia.edu. Skills in which we are particularly interested include LabView and MATLAB programming, signal analysis, prototyping, basic circuitry (especially with LEDs and photodiodes), miniaturization, and fiberoptics.

Undergraduate research

Research opportunities are available for undergraduate students, particularly those looking for an opportunity to perform research leading to a national presentation and possible publication in a medical or engineering journal. Please feel free to email anesthesia-technology@virginia.edu. Because research with human participants requires specialized training and approval by the Institutional Review Board for Health Science Research (IRB-HSR), we recommend that you contact us at your earliest convenience to ensure sufficient time to complete a project.

We also welcome inquiries from post-graduate students in all phases of training. Depending on your skill and our needs set, we may be able to construct a mutually beneficial position in our Department. See our Projects page to get a sense of what type of work we are interested in; however, please keep in mind that we have additional research interests which we are unable to advertise on this site.
