Rwanda and Charlottesville Anesthesiologists Link Up
It was 0900 in Charlottesville (EST) and 1600 in Kigali (EAT) on December 21, 2012, when anesthesiologists from the University of Virginia and the National University of Rwanda sat down to present challenging cases and exchange information about life 7300 miles away.
Julia Weinkauf, visiting faculty in Rwanda, moderated from the Kigali side, in the telemedicine room at Kigali Health Institute. Marcel Durieux moderated from the Charlottesville side, in the telemedicine room at the University of Virginia Hospital. Each side was able to see the other participants as well as view PowerPoint presentations of the cases.
