Six named as "Best Doctors in America"

Congratulations to Victor C. Baum, David L. Bogdonoff, Charles G. Durbin, Carl Lynch III, George F. Rich, and John C. Rowlingson, who were recognized as among the best doctors in the country.  A total of 195 doctors made the list from the University of Virginia, the most ever for our institution.

Best Doctors® uses a peer review process to selection the top 5% of doctors in America.  "If you or a loved one needed a doctor in your specialty, to whom would you refer them?" The answers anesthesiologists nationwide gave to this question confirmed that these five faculty members are well known and highly respected throughout the field.

These six anesthesiologists have taught decades of UVA residents, starting as far back as 1978 (Drs. Durbin and Rowlingson).  They average 26 years as attending amesthesiologists in our department.  Together, they also cover a wide spectrum of subspecialty practice, including cardiothoracic anesthesia (Drs. Baum, Lynch, and Rich), pediatric and pediatric cardiac anesthesia (Dr. Baum), critical care medicine (Dr. Durbin), neuroanesthesia and liver transplant anesthesia (Dr. Bogdonoff), and pain management and regional anesthesia (Dr. Rowlingson).
