Path 8280 -- Clinical Immunology and Immunopathology

The over-arching theme is to provide the participants with an appreciation of clinical conditions that are associated with immune system dysfunction, which need to be properly understood by appropriately designed translational research.

Specifically:

1.

To provide an introduction to clinical conditions caused by aberrant performance of the immune system.  This year (2013) we will focus on diseases associated with aberrant IgE production (primary immune deficiency and allergic disorders) and autoimmunity.

2.

To provide an understanding of the clinical presentations and consequences of these diseases.

3.
To develop an understanding of pathological and immune dysfunction responsible for these diseases.
4.
To discuss focused areas of contemporary immune research that address critical components of each disease’s pathogenesis.
5.
To propose, delineate, and critique current literature and outline ideas for proper translational research.
