Whereas, it has been known for some time that immune cells and signals can induce profound changes to neuronal physiology, these exact mechanisms remain unclear. As a post-doctoral fellow in the Kipnis lab, I am particularly interested in how immune cells can disintegrate neuronal circuits resulting in devastating behavioral changes in diseases such as autism and depression. We use a variety of powerful techniques including mouse genetics, behavior, and imaging to address these complicated mechanisms.
