I am a 3rd year undergraduate Echols Scholar double majoring in Neuroscience and Economics.  I am working under the tutelage of Noel Derecki on Rett Syndrome by quantifying and characterizing glial cells in a GFP mouse line.  The goal is to better understand the nature and distribution of these cells as a potential vector for the for the neuropathology of Rett.  I am currently pursuing the use of a novel clearing technique to render biological samples optically transparent for the purpose of capturing deeper, cleaner images.
