Research into neural regeneration and the utilization of stem cells holds hope for millions of Americans who are affected by deafness, blindness, stroke, Alzheimer's disease, and other neurological disorders.  The members of our lab are investigating those topics and seeking to discover methods for stimulating the regeneration of neurosensory cells and means for preventing their loss.

JeffCorwin
Jeffrey T. Corwin, Principal Investigator, received his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from UCSD in 1980 and taught at the University of Hawaii from 1981-1988.  He has been at UVa since 1988.

Sol Collado,  Post-doc, received her Ph.D. from University of Houston in 2006. She joined the lab in February 2007.

Doan On, undergraduate researcher, is a fourth year student getting a B.S. in biology and minoring in German.  He started as a laboratory aide in the summer of 2007.

Lisa Igbani, undergraduate Lab Assistant, is a second year student at UVa and has been working in the lab since July 2005 when she was a Charlottesvile High School student.

Jade On, undergraduate researcher, is currently a 3rd year pre-medical student at UVa pursusing a B.S. in Biology.  She joined the lab in the spring 2009 as a lab aide.

Wendy Gluba, lab specialist, received her B.S. in Biology from James Madison University and has been working at UVa since 1995. She joined Corwin Lab in August 2009.

April Venn, undergraduate lab aide, is currently a 3rd year student pursuing a B.A. in History and a minor in Biology at UVa.
