Wage Faculty to Conduct HIV Research 

The Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Cancer Biology at the University of Virginia seeks applicants for an Non-Instructional Faculty wage position. The incumbent will work independently with a South African collaborator on a research project involving HIV molecular biology. Duties include designing and performing experiments about the role of HIV Rev and RRE during HIV infection of patients, carrying out competitive viral growth assays, traveling to South Africa to help transfer technology from UVA, and interacting with members of the UVA community also working in Africa. 

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in molecular biology or a related science, previous experience working with infectious HIV, and at least one year of experience conducting research in an African setting. 

This is an at-will faculty wage position which does not carry benefits. Candidates must have a PhD and/or MD and experience in HIV molecular biology.
