LAM for Administrators

LAM for Admins Day One 2012

Leadership in Academic Matters is a faculty development opportunity focused on supporting, inspiring, and rewarding those who have demonstrated leadership characteristics and future potential. Underwritten by the Vice Provost for Faculty Development and the School of Medicine Office of the Dean, LAM provides participants with concrete resources, access to expertise, and experiential learning opportunities focused on a variety of topics including teambuilding, negotiation, managing change, strategic decision making, financial management, developing successful networks, and finding life balance in a dynamic and growing career. Weekly half-day sessions are conducted over the course of several months and are facilitated by leading experts in academic leadership. Topics are chosen based on stated needs, institutional priorities and growth opportunities, as well as national research on best practices.

While LAM is a faculty development program, administrators may be nominated for participation. In fact, each LAM program has included at least one SOM administrator

LAM for Administrators  tailors the LAM program to School of Medicine administrators. Participants also include administrators from the UVA Physicians Group, Medical Center, Health Sciences Library, and School of Nursing. LAM for Administrators is sponsored during even numbered years with the next session scheduled to begin in March 2014.
