Administrator Development, Education, & Professional Training (ADEPT) supports new and seasoned administrators in fulfilling their roles in a complex clinical, research, and educational environment.

The ADEPT acronym highlights the mission and goals of the School of Medicine's administrator development programs. As a noun, an adept is a highly skilled or well-trained individual. As an adjective, adept describes an individual as thoroughly proficient or expert.

The mission of ADEPT is to foster the development, engagement, success, and retention of exceptional department administrators. ADEPT integrates organizational research, theoretical models and proven practices to:

  • Facilitate the transition of new administrators into the professional, cultural, and organizational life of the SOM and Health System
  • Provide administrators ongoing learning opportunities and development experiences
  • Foster mentoring, networking, and collaboration within and between departments, divisions, and centers
  • Communicate principles, policies, and expectations for operating practices
  • Establish the role of administrators within the SOM and Health System
  • Support institutional research, participation in professional organizations, and attendance at national conferences.
